Design-Build Backyards · Serving the South Bay
Most backyard quotes come from a crew that can dig and pour but can't show you a plan. We're the only South Bay firm with an in-house designer and build crew under one roof, so you see your whole backyard designed before we ever break ground.
We Get It
"I want to do something back there, but I don't know what to do."
You can picture the vibe. Turning it into an actual plan, with the pergola, pavers, and kitchen all tied together, is a different skill entirely.
"I got five quotes and none of them had a designer."
Every crew could build. Not one could show you the vision first. So nothing ever felt right enough to say yes to.
"Nothing back there matches. It's just not our taste."
Mismatched concrete, leftover materials, a layout that feels random. It reads like a to-do list, not a designed space.
"I've got this slope and no idea what to do with it."
That awkward grade isn't a dead zone. Handled right, it's where a retaining wall carves out a whole new patio level.
Here's the truth nobody told you: you were never supposed to be the designer. A builder without one can only pour what you tell them to. You deserve to see it drawn up first, then built by the same team that designed it.
Our Work
The STG & Estevez Difference
You start with Kelly, our designer, not a salesperson. He turns "I don't know what I want" into a plan you can actually see. It's the reason clients pick us over five other quotes.
One company owns the whole outcome. No juggling a designer, a landscaper, and a mason who all point fingers when something goes wrong.
The foundation is where corner-cutting hides. We build on real concrete so your patio doesn't settle and crack a year later, no matter what your neighbor's crew did.
You approve a real design of your backyard before anyone lifts a shovel. No guessing, no surprises, and no six figures spent on a result you're not sure about.
How It Works
Your first conversation is with Kelly, not a closer. Tell him how you want the space to feel and how your family wants to use it. You don't need it figured out. That's his job.
We show you your actual yard drawn up, pergola, pavers, kitchen, fire feature, all tied together. This is the moment most of our clients say "that's it, that's what I wanted."
We scope it clearly so you know exactly what you're getting and what it costs. No mystery line items and no price that quietly climbs once the crew shows up.
The same team that designed it builds it, on proper concrete foundations, handling the slope and grading so it lasts for years of backyard barbecues.
What We Design & Build
The whole space designed and built as one cohesive plan, start to finish.
The anchor that gives your yard a room, and a place to actually sit.
Laid on real foundations so the finish stays level and matched, not clashing.
Built for how you really host, from weeknight dinners to game-day crowds.
The centerpiece that turns a patio into the spot everyone gathers around.
We turn a steep, unusable slope into the best, most functional part of the yard.
In Their Words
"I got five quotes and none of them had a designer. STG was the only one. We moved to Morgan Hill and wanted the backyard done right for the long term. Kelly designed it, they built it on concrete, not base rock like my buddy's guys, and it came out better than I pictured."
"I knew what I liked but had no idea how to put it together. Seeing it designed first made the whole decision easy. One team, one plan, no chasing three different contractors around."
"We had a steep slope we thought was a lost cause. They turned it into a second patio level with a retaining wall. It's now the part of the yard everyone comments on."
Straight Answers
A landscaper can pour exactly what you tell them to. The problem is you shouldn't have to be the one who knows where the pergola goes, how the materials tie together, or how to use a slope. Kelly designs the whole space first so every choice is intentional, then our crew builds it. That's the difference between a to-do list and a designed backyard.
Absolutely. Kelly designs to your budget and shows you exactly what it buys. Most clients start with a number, see the design, and choose to add to it because they want what they're seeing, not because we pushed. You stay in control of the scope the whole way.
The corners get cut in the parts you can't see, mainly the foundation. We pour real concrete instead of base rock, which is exactly why the work doesn't settle and crack down the line. And because we design and build in-house, there's no other company to blame if something needs fixing. It's on us.
Yes, and it's often where we create the wow. A steep grade isn't a problem to hide. With the right retaining wall and grading it becomes a whole new usable level. We have the equipment and the engineering experience so you don't have to.
We lock the scope and budget with you after the design, so you know the number before we build. If you decide to add something later, that's your call and we price it up front. No surprise upcharges buried in the invoice.
